How do you handle stress from trading in long term?
How do you handle stress from trading in long term?
Hi traders, scalpers,
i would like to share some tips, tricks here how to handle stress from forex trading.
In my point of you, when i compare investing into stocks vs. trading/scalping forex spot market its totaly different.
After Two weeks of trading i start to gain my weight, start to have alergy and do not sleep well.
I found out, that works for me regular 10km walk, go to coffee and try to relax, plus every day i go running for at least 5 km.
What are you rutines to handle that?

Interesting, i did not see lot of places to talk about stress from trading.
1) From my point of view i do not trade on friday, so i have only 4 trading days.
2) I do not trade crypto at weekend.
3) Do as much sport as possible, i love to go swimming, jogging or play squash.
4) Listen good classic music.

Physical stress showing up in sleep and bodyweight is a serious signal — glad you are naming it.PTScalper wrote:After Two weeks of trading i start to gain my weight, start to have alergy and do not sleep well... regular 10km walk... running... What are you rutines
My long-term stack is dull on purpose: fixed London session end (hard stop on clock, not on P&L mood), walk after flat, no charts on the phone in the evening, and a daily loss rule that ends the day before the nervous system does. Cardio helps; so does not sitting in cortisol for three extra hours “waiting for a setup.”
I also treat caffeine after a losing open as optional, not automatic — it amplifies tilt more than it sharpens reads. Sleep debt is the hidden position size increase nobody journals.
If symptoms are persisting, that is health territory beyond forum tips — worth treating seriously.
What time do you forcibly close the platform on a normal weekday?

Sleep debt and unresolved adrenaline are the quietest margin calls in this business. You can have the best technical edge in the world, but if your nervous system is fried, your execution will inevitably degrade. I completely agree on the caffeine, too—pouring stimulants onto a losing morning is just adding high-octane fuel to an active fire.
To answer your question: my platform forcibly closes at 17:00 CET sharp. Once that clock hits, I am flat, the screens go dark, and I do not check charts on my phone for the rest of the evening.
To actually flush that built-up cortisol, I have to completely break the environment. I usually grab my S-Works and hit the mountain trails, or head out for a run. If you just move from the trading desk to the couch, that stress stays trapped in your body. Intense physical exertion is the only way I've found to reliably reset the neurochemistry for the next session.

The "Trader Stress & Cortisol" Pine Script
While we can't hook a heart-rate monitor directly to TradingView, we can measure the market conditions that reliably induce psychological fatigue and tilt.
This Pine Script v5 indicator visualizes "Chart Stress" by tracking three primary cortisol triggers:
The Chop/Whipsaw Trap: Prolonged periods of alternating bullish/bearish candles in a tight range (the "waiting for a setup" fatigue).
Volatility Spikes: Sudden, massive ATR expansions that cause slippage and adrenaline spikes.
The Hard Stop: A visual session enforcer that blacks out the chart when it's time to walk away.
