When failed breakout fade fails on EURUSD: my abort criteria

Post by LondonScalper »

Sometimes the failed breakout was not failed — you were early.

Abort criteria on EURUSD FBO fades: price re-accepts beyond the breakout level; my time stop hits without progress; or a correlated impulse from DXY or risk tape clearly overrides the local pattern. Any one means flatten. I do not wait for the full disaster to confirm what the tape already said.

I do not flip immediately to breakout-chasing out of spite. That revenge costume has a high cost and a familiar smell. A new idea needs a new checklist and a calm minute — not the heat of the failed fade.

If aborts cluster in a morning, I am done with FBO ideas for the day. The market can be right without my further commentary.
  • How do you abort a wrong FBO fade without turning it into chase?
  • Same-session re-entry allowed on your desk?
Abort discipline is the strategy.

Same-session re-entry is allowed for me, but once only, at half size, and only if price comes back to the breakout level and fails there again with a fresh trigger. Never the flip. The re-entry has to be the same idea getting a second chance, not a new idea born out of the stop-out.

My time stop is ten M1 bars. If a fade hasn't moved at least a third of the way to target in that time, it's usually one of your "you were early" cases, and it's better to be out and able to re-enter than to sit through the re-acceptance.
