Screenshot Every Trade at Entry and Exit

Post by Fairman »

Numbers in a spreadsheet — entry price, exit price, position size — don't actually tell you what you saw on the chart in the moment you made your decision. A screenshot does, and that visual record is worth far more than it might initially seem.

Take a screenshot at the moment of entry, capturing the chart exactly as it appeared, including whatever indicators or levels you were using to make your decision. This captures your actual reasoning in the moment — the market structure, the indicator readings, the specific price action that convinced you this was a valid setup — in a way that a written note, added after the fact, simply can't replicate with the same accuracy.

Take a second screenshot at exit, capturing how the trade actually resolved relative to your original plan.

Here's why this matters so much during review: when you look back at a losing trade weeks later, the entry screenshot lets you honestly evaluate whether the setup genuinely matched your written criteria, or whether — and this happens far more often than most traders like to admit — you'd actually talked yourself into a marginal setup in the moment, using post-hoc reasoning to justify a decision that wasn't really as clean as you remembered it being.

This kind of honest, visually-grounded review is uncomfortable sometimes, because it can reveal gaps between your stated rules and your actual behavior. That discomfort is exactly the point — it's where genuine improvement comes from, and it's simply not available without the visual record a screenshot provides.

Hi Fairman,

interesting idea, but for me it is not possible, because im pure forex scalper.
I trade dayli like 20 - 300 positions ;-)
But for intraday or medium term trader it is possible.
Preserve your own money. Scale with the market's money. Exponential growth is the ultimate key.

Hello fairman,

from my point of view it is interesting, can you share with us your trading diary?
So we can inspire?
I think that for intraday forex scalper is not easy to capture all trades, but most of the ideas could be ok.

Would love to share that, I understand where you said it’s not easy for intraday scalpers to make use of this idea and it’s true

They mostly enter trade based on price action and don’t neetld to do all the complex architecture to find an entry
