Anchoring to entry price: the scalper's quiet bias

Once a trade is open, the entry price becomes a reference that the mind clings to. Price returning to the entry feels like an opportunity to exit at breakeven, and a trade slightly in the red feels like something that deserves more time to come back.

The market does not care about the entry. The only relevant question is whether, at the current price, the trade still has positive expectancy. A position that has moved against the plan is no different from a fresh decision to enter at the current price.

A useful exercise is asking, at any moment, whether the trade would be opened right now with the current information. If the answer is no, exiting is logical.

Anchoring also shows up in stop moves. Moving a stop to breakeven too early because the entry price feels sacred cuts winners short. Waiting for breakeven to exit a loser extends losses.

Reviewing the log for exits at exactly breakeven can reveal how often this bias shapes results.

How many exits in the journal sit at precisely the entry price?
