Complaints procedures: escalating a dispute with a broker

Post by FXS London Scalper »

Disputes with brokers usually involve a trade execution, a rejected withdrawal or an unexpected fee. Knowing the escalation path before a problem arises helps keep things calm and organised.

The usual first step is the broker's internal complaints procedure, which regulated firms must have and must answer within a set period. A written complaint with dates, ticket numbers, screenshots and a clear request works best.

If the response is unsatisfactory, the next step in many EU countries is a financial ombudsman or an alternative dispute resolution body. In the Czech Republic, the financial arbiter handles certain consumer disputes. The regulator itself usually does not resolve individual cases but does collect complaints.

Keeping records of everything from the start is the single most useful habit, including platform logs and email exchanges.

A calm, factual tone tends to get faster responses than an angry one, even when the complaint is fully justified.

Has anyone here gone through a formal complaint, and how long did it take?
