A weekly VPS health check without extra indicators

Post by FXS London Scalper »

A ten-minute VPS check once a week, Sunday evening before Asia opens, prevents most surprises.
  • Disk space above 20% free. MT5 logs grow faster than expected.
  • Windows or Linux updates: install them now, not mid-week when they force a restart.
  • Ping to the trade server, compared with last week.
  • Each terminal: correct account, correct EAs attached, AutoTrading state as intended.
  • Experts and Journal tabs: any errors since last check.
  • Clock synchronisation, since some EAs rely on local time.
  • Backup of templates, profiles and EA settings copied off the VPS.
Keep a one-line log per week: date, ping, free space, issues. Trends show problems early, such as ping slowly getting worse after the provider moved hardware.

What not to add: monitoring indicators on charts. They use resources and rarely tell you more than the Journal does. If a check fails twice in a row, treat it as a task for the weekend rather than something to fix with positions open on Monday morning.
