Using Frankfurt's 07:00 hour to mark levels for London

Post by FXS London Scalper »

Frankfurt opens roughly an hour before London. That hour works well as a planning hour, not a trading hour.

What to mark between 07:00 and 08:00 London on EURUSD:
  • The Asian high and low.
  • The high and low of the Frankfurt hour so far.
  • Yesterday's high, low and close.
  • Any round numbers close to price.
  • Data due in the London morning.
Why not trade it: liquidity is lower than in London, and moves often get reversed at 08:00. Trading it is possible, but the cost-to-range ratio is usually worse.

How the levels help: when London opens, you already know where price is relative to the session's extremes. A break of the Frankfurt high in the first London minutes means something different from a break of the Asian high.

Some traders prefer to start even earlier with UK data at 07:00. That's a different plan, more about news than levels.
