Some firms sell accounts with no challenge, often called instant funding. They cost more than a challenge and usually come with tighter drawdown rules or lower profit splits.
A way to evaluate them is to compare the total cost of reaching a funded state through each route. If a challenge costs a certain fee and you expect to pass one time in three, the expected cost is three fees plus time. Instant funding may cost less overall for some traders and more for others.
The rules after funding matter just as much: a very tight trailing drawdown on an instant account can mean a short life even for a competent trader.
A worked example: an instant account with a drawdown limit of 5 percent trailing from the high may be breached by a normal losing streak of five or six trades at 1 percent risk.
Reading the drawdown definition carefully is essential before buying.
Has anyone compared instant funding with standard challenges for their own style?
