Knowing when the day is over: exit discipline for the session

Post by Amanhasnoname »

Plenty of scalpers know when to enter. Fewer have a clear rule for when to stop for the day.

Common endings include reaching a profit target, hitting the daily loss limit, finishing the planned time window, or noticing a drop in focus. Each can be defined in advance.

Without a rule, sessions tend to extend into worse conditions. Profit gets given back during the late, low-liquidity hours, or a bad morning turns into a bad day through desperation trades.

Reviewing data on profit by time of day often shows that most of the gains come from a few active hours. Extra hours add cost and risk for little return.

A practical structure is a fixed start and end, a maximum number of trades, and a hard stop at the daily loss limit. After the end, the platform closes. Review and planning take over.

Closing the screens is a skill. It protects the account and also preserves energy for the next day.

What triggers the end of your session, and do you stick to it?
