Trading alone

Trading alone

Most scalpers work solo. No colleagues, no desk, no one to say that a trade looks off. The solitude has a cost.

Without feedback, bad habits persist unnoticed. Without company, doubts and frustrations are carried alone. The line between healthy focus and isolation blurs.

Professional trading desks provide structure by design: risk managers, peers, regular reviews. A solo trader has to create equivalents.

A trading partner or a small group, meeting weekly to review trades and share data, adds perspective. The group needs honesty and shouldn't become an echo chamber. Sharing logs, not just stories, keeps it grounded.

Another option is a mentor or a coach who looks at the actual records.

Even an hour of conversation a week with someone who understands the work can prevent the slow drift into unexamined routines.

Online communities, forums included, can fill the gap, when they're used for substantive discussion rather than for hype.

The aim isn't to be social for its own sake. It's to get feedback from someone who isn't inside one's head.

Who reviews the trades, and how often does an outside view change something?
