Withdrawal tests: moving a small amount out before trusting a broker

Post by FXS London Scalper »

Before depositing a larger sum with a new broker, some traders run a withdrawal test: deposit a modest amount, trade a little or not at all, then request a withdrawal back to the same method. The point is to see how the process works when nothing is at stake.

Things worth noting during the test: how many days the request takes to be approved, whether extra documents are requested only at withdrawal time, what fees appear, and whether the amount arrives in full. A broker that is quick to accept deposits but slow to return money shows it at this stage.

A hypothetical comparison: broker A approves in one day and the money arrives in three; broker B asks for a new proof of address and takes ten days. Neither is necessarily dishonest, but the difference matters for anyone who may need funds quickly.

Keeping screenshots and emails from the test helps if a dispute arises later.

Have you done a withdrawal test, and what did it reveal?
