A symbol can reject trades with error 133, trade disabled, even though the market is clearly open elsewhere. Brokers define trading sessions per symbol, and these windows may have gaps that do not match the interbank schedule.
Some brokers pause specific symbols for several minutes around rollover. Others close exotics outside local hours. A few disable trading on certain pairs during major holidays even if liquidity exists.
The platform's symbol specification window lists the sessions. It is worth checking before assuming that a rejection means a problem. Differences between account types matter too. The same broker may allow trading on one server and not on another.
For automated systems, handle 133 gracefully. Do not retry endlessly. Mark the symbol as unavailable, wait until the next scheduled session, and log the event.
Also watch the opposite scenario: a pending order that sits through a closed session may trigger at the reopen price, which can differ sharply from the level when it was placed.
When did the broker's session schedule last differ from what was expected?
