One-click trading removes the confirmation box. For a scalper, that's the point. It's also how a 10 lot position opens when 1 lot was intended.
A typical scenario: the lot size field gets changed for a different instrument, a different pair gets selected, and a click on buy goes through immediately. Or a scroll wheel adjusts the volume on a hover without anyone noticing.
Another one happens at the end of a session. Several positions are open, a click on "close all" hits the wrong chart, and a hedge that was meant to stay open is gone.
Habits that reduce the odds include:
- Locking the lot size field per chart or template
- Colour coding each pair's window
- A hotkey setup with a separate key for each size
- Keeping only one pair on screen during live trading
None of this is glamorous. All of it comes from watching other people lose money to a stray mouse movement.
What's the worst accidental order that has been placed, and what changed afterwards?
One-click trading and the misclick that costs a week
