Screenshots of green days are marketing, not data

Scroll any trading feed or forum thread and the pattern is obvious: plus 90 pips on the day, a tidy equity curve, a chart with perfect arrows. What does not appear is the red week before it, the account size, the number of attempts that never got posted, or whether the screenshot is a demo balance.

The effect on a scalper watching it is real, though. A 15 pip day looks small next to a +120 post, and the temptation is to lift size or trade longer to keep up. Comparing a single data point from someone else with the average of one's own results is a measurement error, and it quietly changes behaviour.

Things that help:

- treat posted results the way a sceptical analyst would, asking about sample size, drawdown and verification before anything else
- unfollow or mute accounts that only show wins; the information value is close to zero
- keep a personal benchmark: own expectancy per trade and own monthly drawdown, compared only with past self

The useful posts are the ones that include losing days, position sizes and the rules used. Those are rarer but worth far more than any screenshot.

Which accounts or threads actually taught something because they showed the ugly days too?
