Screen staring creates tunnel vision and invented setups

Post by Amanhasnoname »

Hours of watching one-minute candles train the brain to find patterns. Everything starts to look like a signal, and the line between a real setup and wishful thinking blurs.

Tunnel vision also narrows awareness. The wider context, such as the higher timeframe level, the approaching news, or the time of day, drops out of view. Trades get taken that a fresh look would reject.

Short breaks reset perception. Looking away for a minute or stepping outside for five can restore the ability to see the chart as it is. Some traders set a timer and take a break every hour regardless of what is happening.

Another approach is limiting active screen time to defined windows, with real sessions of ninety minutes followed by a full break. The structure prevents the drift into endless watching.

Results often improve with less screen time, which feels backwards but matches what many experienced scalpers report.
