USDCHF has a personality, and it's mostly sleepy
USDCHF tends to mirror EURUSD in reverse. When the euro rallies against the dollar, the Swiss franc usually does too, so USDCHF falls. The correlation sits around minus 0.9 for long stretches.
That makes it a poor source of independent ideas, but a decent check. If EURUSD breaks a level and USDCHF refuses to follow through in the opposite direction, the move may lack conviction.
Liquidity is thinner than the euro pair, and quote updates are slower. Spreads are wider by a few tenths, and stops get hit by short spikes more often than the chart suggests.
The Swiss National Bank adds its own flavor. Occasional intervention talk or a policy meeting can wake the pair suddenly. Safe-haven flows during risk-off moments push the franc higher in bursts.
It's a pair that rewards patience and punishes expectations of constant action.
Is USDCHF used here as a standalone trade, or only as a cross-check on the euro?
