After a year of backtesting I had hundreds of report files and no idea which settings each one used. My fix is simple: the EA writes its own key inputs into the report file name.
Format: EAname_v3_SL5_TP8_SF1.5_Start0800_20260101-20260630.htm
Then a small Python script parses the names and builds a table: settings, net R, profit factor, max drawdown, trade count.
It also makes it obvious when I've tested the same settings twice.
Does anyone have a better way of managing backtest results? I've seen people use databases, but this works for me.
