I track a lot of numbers in my journal. Looking back over the last year, only a few of them actually led to changes. Here's my honest list.
Changed something:
Which stats actually changed your trading?
Changed something:
- R by hour of day. Showed that trades after 11:00 London were negative, so I stopped trading after 11:00 unless there's US data.
- MAE of winners. Showed my stops were too tight on GBPUSD, so I widened them by 1.5 pips.
- Win rate after two consecutive losses. Dropped sharply, which led to my two-loss daily stop.
- Day of week. Small differences, nothing consistent.
- Trade duration. Useful once, to set a time stop, but not since.
- Average R per month. Too noisy to act on.
- Total pips. Meaningless with different stop sizes.
- Maximum consecutive wins.
