cTrader attracts scalpers for a few specific reasons. It tends to offer a clearer depth of market, level-two pricing, and advanced order management features such as one-click trading with visible risk controls.
It also uses a different programming framework, called cAlgo or cTrader Automate, which lets developers write bots in C#. Some traders prefer that to MQL.
There are trade-offs. Fewer brokers offer cTrader than MetaTrader, which limits choice. Third-party indicator libraries are smaller. And the platform's behaviour depends on how each broker has set it up, so claims of better execution should be checked, not assumed.
For short-term trading, the best approach is to open a small account or demo on a broker that supports it and compare execution, spreads, and platform speed against your current setup. Features matter less than reliability under real conditions.
Anyone who has switched from MetaTrader to cTrader, or the reverse, would have useful perspective on what actually changed.
cTrader also has a different approach to spread display and order types, with some brokers offering market range orders by default. These behave a little like a maximum deviation setting, which can protect against large slippage. Checking the order ticket options on the specific broker reveals what protections are available.
