Which session pays best on EURUSD once costs are subtracted?

Post by FXS London Scalper »

I split one year of EURUSD scalps by session and looked at the result net of costs. The gross picture and the net picture were quite different.

Sessions (London time):
  • Asia (00:00–07:00). Gross win rate actually decent, but average spread more than double London. Net result slightly negative.
  • London open (07:00–10:00). Best net result. Costs low, ranges big enough for 5–8 pip targets.
  • London midday (10:00–12:30). Roughly flat. I trade it less now.
  • NY overlap (12:30–16:00). Second best net, but more variable because of US data.
  • Late NY (16:00–21:00). Net negative for me. Ranges shrink, I force trades.
The surprising part was Asia. On paper it looked fine; after costs it was the reason a few months were flat.

So now my plan is simple: full focus on the London open and selected overlap windows, nothing else on EURUSD.

Caveat: this is one trader's style. A range scalper might find Asia the best session. That's exactly why I think everyone should split their own results this way at least once. Which session is your best once you include costs?
