Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a detailed breakdown of a scalping framework I’ve been refining heavily on the lower timeframes (1m/5m) using Fibonacci retracements. While many traders think Fibs are strictly reserved for swing trading on 4H or Daily charts, applying them correctly to micro-trends can yield clean, high-probability scalps—especially on major pairs like EUR/USD and GBP/USD during high-liquidity sessions (London/New York).
Below is the complete blueprint of how I trade this setup, complete with rules, risk management, and common pitfalls to avoid.
1. Core Setup & Prerequisites
Before touching the Fibonacci tool, you need strict context. Scalping random impulses on a 1-minute chart without structure is a fast track to draining your account.
Timeframes: Macro trend context on the 5-minute (5M); exact entry execution on the 1-minute (1M).
Pairs: High-liquidity, tight-spread majors (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY).
Key Tool Levels: Strip out the clutter. I only keep 38.2%, 50.0%, 61.8% (the Golden Zone), and 78.6%.

2.) Target Setting and Risk-to-Reward Ratio (RRR)
In scalping, fractions of a pip matter. Because spreads eat into profits, your targets must compensate.
Pro Tip: Never target arbitrary pips. Use Fibonacci Extension Projections (-27.2% and -61.8%) or the previous impulse high/low as your primary take-profit zones to lock down a minimum 1:2 risk-to-reward ratio.
Stop Loss (SL): Placed 3–5 pips below the swing low (in an uptrend) or just beyond the 78.6% retracement boundary.
Take Profit 1 (TP1): Scale out 50% of the position at the 127.2% / -27.2% extension level
Take Profit 2 (TP2): Let the remaining position run to the 161.8% extension or trail your stop to break-even.

4. Common Pitfalls to Avoid
Trading Choppy/Ranging Markets: Fibs only work when there is clear directional momentum. If the market is moving sideways, put the tool away.
Overcomplicating with Indicators: Adding 5 different oscillators on top of your Fibs will cause analysis paralysis. Keep it clean: Price action + Structure + Fibs.
Chasing the Price: If price slices past the 61.8% / 78.6% level with overwhelming momentum, let it go. Do not try to catch a falling knife.

What’s your experience?
I'd love to hear how other scalpers incorporate Fibonacci levels into their lower-timeframe strategies. Do you stick strictly to the 61.8% level, or do you look for confluences with moving averages or volume profiles? Let's discuss below!
What specific currency pairs or trading sessions do you primarily focus on for your scalping strategy?

Re: High-Probability Forex Scalping Using Fibonacci Retracement Levels
I use Fibonacci mostly as a way to measure the depth of a pullback rather than as exact levels. On M5 the 61.8% level alone is not reliable, but when it lines up with the VWAP for the session or a prior M15 swing, the reaction is more consistent. As for pairs, I mainly trade USDJPY and AUDUSD during the Tokyo session and EURUSD in the early London hours. In quiet Asian hours retracements are often shallow, closer to 38.2%, while in London they tend to go deeper before the trend resumes.
