EURCHF is one of the quietest crosses in the major set. During Asia hours it can sit in a 5-pip range for hours, which makes it look perfect for small mean-reversion trades.
Before trying it, a few numbers worth checking on your own feed:
- Typical spread between 23:00 and 06:00 UK. On many raw accounts it widens to 2–3 pips during these hours, compared with under 1 during London.
- Average 15-minute range in the same window. If the range is 3 pips and the spread is 2, there is no trade.
- Frequency of sudden jumps. Thin books mean the occasional order sweeps several levels at once.
In most cases, EURCHF in Asia is a pair to watch for context, not to trade. It can tell you whether European risk is quiet before London opens. If it suddenly moves 15 pips at 04:00, something is going on.
The pair becomes a lot more tradeable after 07:00 UK when Zurich and Frankfurt desks come in. That window is where most of its scalping potential lives.
Anyone found a workable approach for EURCHF before 07:00, or is it a waste of spread?
