Sizing down after the first two trades of the day lose

Post by FXS London Scalper »

Two losses at the start of a session raise a question: is something off today, or is it just normal variance?

Arguments for sizing down:
- Early losses might signal that market conditions don't suit your strategy today.
- Reduced size limits the damage if conditions really are poor.
- Psychological relief: smaller size reduces pressure and tilt risk.

Arguments against:
- Two losses is a tiny sample. With a 55% win rate, two losses in a row happen about 20% of the time.
- Sizing down after losses and up after wins can reduce overall returns.
- It adds a decision point where emotions can interfere.

A middle approach:
- After two losses, reduce to 50% size for the next two trades.
- If one of those wins, return to full size.
- If both lose (four losses), stop for the session.

The key is having the rule written in advance, so it's not decided in the moment.
