A weekend geopolitics checklist before Monday's open

Post by FXS London Scalper »

Geopolitical events over the weekend can make Monday's open unpredictable. A quick checklist on Sunday helps prepare.

Items to check:
  • Elections: any major elections over the weekend? Results can gap currencies.
  • Central bank surprises: any emergency statements or unexpected weekend comments?
  • Conflicts and tensions: escalations affecting oil, gold and safe-haven currencies.
  • G7/G20/OPEC meetings: decisions announced over the weekend.
  • Trade news: tariffs or sanctions announced.
  • Financial stress: bank failures or market stress events.
For each item, note which pairs could be affected and in which direction.

Then on Monday:
- If nothing significant happened: normal rules.
- If something significant happened: wait for London to establish price before trading, and reduce size.

Ten minutes of preparation on Sunday can prevent a nasty surprise on Monday morning.
