There's something different about a rule on paper taped next to the screen versus a rule in a document somewhere. It's visible at the moment of temptation.
What goes on a printed no-trade list:
NO TRADES
- 10 min before / after red-folder news on my pair
- Spread above 1.5 pips on EURUSD
- After 3 losers in a row today
- After daily target hit
- Friday after 17:00
- During rollover (21:45–22:15)
- If I haven't done the pre-session checklist
Short, specific and readable in two seconds. No explanations on the printed version (those belong in the trading plan). Just the rules.
The physical act of looking at it before entering a trade adds a second or two of friction. That's often all that's needed to catch an impulse trade.
Some traders laminate it and tick items off with a dry-erase marker each session.
Does anyone else use something physical? Cards, sticky notes, a whiteboard?
