Single pair focus vs rotating through several pairs

Post by FXS London Scalper »

Some scalpers trade one pair for years. Others rotate between pairs depending on where the movement is. Both approaches have committed defenders.

Single pair:
- Deep familiarity with how it behaves at each hour.
- One set of costs to track.
- Fewer decisions.
- Risk: on quiet days, there may be nothing to trade.

Rotation:
- More opportunities, as some pair is usually moving.
- Can choose the cleanest chart each day.
- Risk: less depth of knowledge, more data to manage, and a temptation to always find "something" to trade.

A middle approach: one main pair (70–80% of trades) plus one or two secondary pairs allowed only when the main one is quiet or when a pair-specific catalyst appears (e.g. AUD data in Asia, UK data for GBP).

Whichever approach, track results by pair. Many traders who rotate discover that most of their profit comes from one or two pairs.

Which approach do you take? Did it change after looking at your stats by pair?
