GBPUSD at 08:00 UK is often more aggressive than EURUSD. Larger spikes, wider spreads for the first minutes, and more false breaks in both directions. Using the same entry rules for both pairs tends to cost money on cable.
Some ways to tighten the filter:
1. Wait longer. If the EURUSD rule allows entries from 08:05, consider 08:10 or 08:15 for GBPUSD.
2. Spread cap. Don't enter cable while spread is more than double its typical London value.
3. Require a retest. A breakout of the Asia range on GBPUSD must retest the level before entry, while on EURUSD a strong close may be enough.
4. Avoid UK data days for the first 30 minutes, especially with releases at 07:00 UK.
5. Larger stop, smaller size. GBPUSD needs more room to breathe. Keep the risk in R the same.
The payoff for patience on GBPUSD is that when it moves cleanly, it often moves further than EURUSD. Skipping the first few minutes rarely means missing the whole move.
