Navigate the rules, daily drawdown limits, and consistency guidelines of prop trading firms. Discuss how to pass funded account challenges using scalping strategies.
I did that sum for my own numbers last quarter, and the useful unit turned out to be cost per account that reaches a first payout. A funded account that dies before paying is just a pricier failed challenge.
For a 100k two step at 550, my pass rate across both phases was roughly 35 percent, and about 70 percent of passed accounts reached a payout. That works out near 2,245 per paying account, before any fee refund.
The instant version of the same size cost about 1,650. With its 6 percent trailing drawdown only around 45 percent of mine got to a payout, so the figure came out nearer 3,667.
The trailing part swings the result. An early winning week lifts the floor, and a normal pullback afterwards sits far closer to the breach than under a static limit.
So I agree with the post on who it suits, with one addition: run your strategy under trailing rules on a demo for a month before paying for one. Does anyone know how common it is for the trail to lock at the starting balance rather than follow equity forever? That single detail moved my numbers more than the fee did.
