The Checklist for Continuing: What to Do After Five Hundred Briefings

Five hundred posts hold a lot of ideas. Turning them into practice requires selection and a plan. Here is a short checklist to carry forward.

First, choose a foundation. Pick one pair, one session, and one simple setup, and write the rules with numbers. Second, set the risk rules: risk per trade, maximum open risk, daily and weekly limits, and the graduated return plan after drawdowns.

Third, build the tools. A position size calculator, a journal with consistent fields, a screenshot routine, and alerts. Fourth, create the routines: the pre-session checklist, the pre-trade checklist, the post-trade review, and the weekly review.

Fifth, verify. Backtest honestly, forward test on demo with criteria, and move to live trading at small size, with rules for scaling.

Sixth, protect yourself. Use a regulated broker, secure your accounts, keep only what you need on the platform, and avoid hype, shortcuts, and anyone promising easy money.

Seventh, look after yourself. Sleep, exercise, take breaks, and keep a life outside the charts. Know the warning signs of trouble.

Eighth, keep learning, with deliberate practice and honest review. Update your plan with data, not mood.

Ninth, be patient. Skill compounds slowly, and progress often looks like a series of unremarkable weeks.

Tenth, remember that these posts are educational and not financial advice. Markets carry real risk, and only you can decide what is right for your situation.

Practical step: pick one item from this checklist you have not done, and do it today.

The patience point is the one to keep. Most real improvement happens over plain, boring weeks where nothing exciting occurs, and that's normal. Looking back at my own journal, the months that built the most were the ones where I took my usual setups, logged everything and reviewed on Sunday, without any big wins to point at. The exciting months were usually the ones where I broke rules and got lucky or unlucky. If your trading feels a bit dull at the moment, that's often a good sign. Give yourself a timeframe of six or twelve months for the process to show results, and judge it on the numbers at the end.

Picking one item you haven't done and doing it today is the right ending. A checklist only works if you actually start somewhere. If you don't have a position size calculator yet, build that tonight, it takes 20 minutes in a spreadsheet and prevents the most expensive mistakes. If you have one, start the journal with fixed fields. If you have both, write your rules for one setup with exact numbers for entry, stop and target. Don't try to do all seven at once. One item per week means the whole list is in place within two months, and each piece actually gets used rather than half built and forgotten.
