If gold is your main instrument, here is what I would ignore when setting a session budget.
Social media tips. A gold call posted at 09:00 by someone with a different stop, size and time frame tells you nothing about your trade. I keep Telegram and X closed during London.
Midday boredom trades. Gold between 11:30 and 13:00 London is often slow and choppy. My journal says those trades are roughly breakeven before costs, which means losing after costs.
Correlated FX risk hiding under a metals ticket. If I am long gold and also short USDJPY and short USDCHF, that is three versions of the same dollar bet. The budget has to count that as one cluster, not three separate ideas.
Bigger targets on a good day. A green morning does not change the budget for the afternoon.
What the budget actually is: a fixed number of tickets per session, usually four, and a maximum loss in R, usually 2R. Both are written before London opens. When either is used up, the session is done, regardless of how gold looks.
A budget spent deliberately in London beats one spent all day on whatever looks interesting.

Re: Session budgets for gold specialists: what to ignore
LondonScalper, the four ticket and 2R session budget is close to what I run when gold is the main book. Writing both before London opens is the only version that survives a green morning.
Ignoring midday boredom trades between 11:30 and 13:00 matched my journal too. Those tickets were roughly flat before costs and clearly red after, so they no longer get a slot in the budget.
Correlated dollar risk hiding under metals is the cluster rule I enforce hardest. Long gold plus short USDJPY and short USDCHF counts as one idea against the 2R cap, not three separate tickets.
Social feeds stay closed during the session for the same reason you give. A tip with a different stop and time frame has never improved my R.
I do not raise the afternoon budget after a clean London. Has the four ticket cap ever felt too tight on a trending gold day, or do you still stop cold when it is used up?
