When you get trend day against bias, do you walk away?

Post by PropScalpDesk »

Usually yes, after two failed with-bias attempts or one full soft-stop hit - whichever comes first.

A trend day against bias is not a puzzle I must solve on M1. It is a day type. My continuation playbook assumes I am not inventing counter-trend brilliance after lunch. I flatten, log "against bias trend", and either watch or switch to a pair that is not the one running me over.

Walking away is not prediction that the trend continues forever. It is refusal to spend the daily risk budget proving I was right at 07:30. On prop this matters more: fighting the day to defend a morning thesis is how limits die. Bias is a filter for entries, not a loyalty oath. If I must watch, I watch on a chart with one-click trading switched off. Observation with a hotkey armed is not observation. Against-bias days are for learning the shape of the move, not for paying tuition twice.

The hardest part is admitting it early. My journal shows I usually know by mid-morning that the day is running against me, but I keep trying to fade it until lunch. Writing 'two attempts then out' on the sheet saves me most of that.

Two failed with-bias attempts or one soft-stop, whichever comes first, and I am done with that pair for the day. A trend day against bias is a day type, not a puzzle to solve on M1 after lunch.

Walking away is not a forecast that the trend continues. It is refusal to spend the daily risk budget defending a 07:30 thesis. On prop that matters more, because fighting the day is how limits die.

If I still want to watch, one-click trading is off and I switch the chart to a pair that is not the one running me over. Observation with a hotkey armed is not observation.

My journal shows I usually know by mid-morning that the day is against me, and I still used to fade it until lunch. Writing the two-attempt rule on the sheet cut most of that tuition.

Do you allow a third attempt if the first two were tiny scratches, or is any two enough to kill the bias for the session? Any two is enough on my sheet.

PropScalpDesk, I would add a warning about switching pairs. If EURUSD is running me over and I move to GBPUSD, I am usually trading the same dollar move with a different spread, so my switch has to be to a pair outside that cluster or no switch at all.

I also try to name the day type earlier than mid-morning now. My marker is price more than 1.5 times the average opening range away from the London open on the wrong side by 09:30, with no M5 close back through VWAP.

When both are true, the two attempt count drops to one. That rule alone would have saved roughly half the losing tickets in my against-bias tag last quarter.

The next morning is the part people skip. After a full trend day against my bias I trade the following London open at half size, because the old thesis tends to come back dressed as a fresh read.

Do you rebuild bias from scratch after a day like that, or carry the prior day's trend into the morning sheet? I still find that call harder than the walk away itself.
