Building a prop-safe version of your M1 playbook

Post by PropScalpDesk »

Prop-safe M1, for me, is the personal M1 playbook with three amputations.

1. Max tickets per session cut by about a third.
2. No re-entry within five minutes of a full stop on the same idea.
3. Hard flatten at daily loss limit via platform or script - not "I'll stop" willpower.

Everything else can stay: levels, time stops, session filters. The amputations exist because M1 produces enough decisions that a challenge path dies from frequency, not from one bad read.

I test the prop-safe version on personal capital for two weeks before a challenge. If I cannot follow the reduced rules when money is "mine", I will not follow them when a phase clock is ticking. Building the version is easy. Living it without sneaking the deleted rules back in is the work.

One more amputation I sometimes add: no trading the last ninety minutes of New York on the challenge account. That slot produced my worst process breaches historically, prop or not. The written prop-safe sheet stays on the VPS desktop. If it is not open, I am not trading the challenge that day.

The five minute no re-entry rule is the one that would have saved my first challenge. Most of my breach days started with a full stop, then a second entry on the same idea two or three minutes later at the same size.

I'd question cutting tickets by a third as a flat number. I'd base the cap on the daily loss limit instead. If the limit is 5% and I risk 0.5% a trade, ten losers in a row would end the day, so I cap tickets at six and leave room for slippage.

The last ninety minutes of New York is a good one. For me the bad slot is 12:00 to 13:00 London, after the morning has gone and before the US data. Same story, thin market and boredom.

Did the two weeks on personal capital ever show you a rule you couldn't follow? And if so, did you change the rule or the habit?

The rule I could not follow on personal capital was the five minute no re entry. I kept telling myself the second click was a fresh setup because price had made a new M1 swing, and the sheet still counted it as the same idea.

So I changed the habit, not the rule. After a full stop the platform goes to observation only for five minutes with order entry disabled by a hotkey script. No negotiation about whether the swing is new.

Ticket cap from daily loss maths stayed at six for a 5% day and 0.5% risk. The third amputation, hard flatten at the limit, is the one I test most carefully on personal money, because willpower fails there first.

The 12:00 to 13:00 London blackout is on the challenge sheet only. Personal capital still allows that hour at half size, which is how I noticed boredom was the real issue.

PropScalpDesk, when the prop safe sheet is not open on the VPS, do you treat that as a hard ban for the day, or just a reminder? Making it binary was what finally stopped me trading from memory.
