Journal automation for prop candidates: what to ignore

Automation that dumps every tick into a CSV does not make you prop-ready. It makes you busy.
What I ignore in automated journals during a challenge:
- Tick-level equity curves that redraw every second. They invite mid-session storytelling.
- Win-rate dashboards without R. Passing phases care about path and limits more than hit rate.
- Auto tags based on indicator states I do not trade. Noise labels teach nothing.
- Screenshots of every M1 candle. I want entry, exit, and the level I claimed mattered.
What I keep: timestamp, pair, planned R, realised R, whether news window was open, and a one-line process flag (clean / size breach / blackout breach). A simple form or hotkey that writes those six fields beats a fancy logger I never read.
Prop reviewers, if they ask for anything, get clarity. You get the same. Ignore tools that produce pages you will not open on Sunday.
If an automation vendor promises prop-ready journals out of the box, I still map their fields to my six. Anything that does not map gets ignored until after the phase.
