The Weekly Review: Finding Patterns Daily Reviews Miss
Daily notes capture details. A weekly review reveals patterns, which are where improvement comes from.
Set aside thirty to sixty minutes at the weekend. Start with the numbers: total R for the week, number of trades, win rate, average win and loss, and biggest winner and loser. Compare with your usual ranges.
Then break down the results. By pair, by session, by setup type, and by day of the week. Look for categories where performance clearly stands out, good or bad. Remember the small sample problem, and treat one week as a hint, not a conclusion.
Review your process score. What percentage of trades followed the rules? Compare the results of rule-following trades with rule-breaking ones. Often the difference is striking, and it shows where the money is lost.
Read your notes on emotions and mistakes. Which appear most? Pick one behavior to improve next week, and define how you will measure it.
Look at the week ahead. Review the calendar, key levels, and any changes to your plan.
Finally, check the bigger picture: your equity curve, drawdown, and progress toward your goals.
Keep the focus on controllable factors. Market outcomes are partly luck, while your execution is yours to improve.
Practical step: create a weekly review template with six questions and complete it this weekend.

Re: The Weekly Review: Finding Patterns Daily Reviews Miss
Rule-following versus rule-breaking trades is the comparison that changed the most for me. Seeing the two numbers side by side every week is more convincing than any book on discipline.

Pick one behavior, not five. If the weekly review ends with a long list of things to fix, none of them get fixed.
