A Daily Chart-Reading Routine That Takes Fifteen Minutes

A consistent routine beats ad hoc analysis. A short, structured process keeps you objective and saves time.

Start with the higher timeframes. Open the weekly chart and note the major trend direction and key zones. Then the daily chart: what is the structure, where are the nearest significant levels, and what happened yesterday?

Move to the intraday timeframe you trade, say the one-hour chart. Mark zones where you would consider a trade, along with the previous day's high and low and any round numbers.

Check the calendar for high-impact events affecting your pairs, noting times in your local zone.

Write a brief plan for each pair: the bias, the zones of interest, and the conditions that would make you act or stay out. For example: "Bias up above 1.0950; look for pullback into 1.0950 to 1.0970 zone; avoid trading near 13:30 data."

Set alerts at your zones, then close the charts.

Finally, note your own state: rested, distracted, or stressed. Adjust your plan accordingly.

The routine should be written, so that you can repeat it identically each day. Over time, you will notice what you routinely overlook and add it.

Doing it before the session starts, away from live price action, keeps analysis calmer.

Practical step: write your routine as six steps and follow it for ten consecutive days.

Writing the one-line plan is what makes this work for me. If I can't fit the bias and the zone in one sentence, I don't understand the chart well enough to trade it today.

I'd add: do it at the same time each day. When the routine floats around, it slowly becomes something you do after you've already taken a trade.

Noting your own state at the end is underrated. Some of my worst sessions started with "tired, distracted" written right there in the plan, and I traded anyway.
