XAUUSD FVG that forms into a round handle: confluence or noise?

Gold loves round handles. It also loves leaving FVGs into them. Confluence or coincidence?

I treat an FVG that terminates into a round figure as mild confluence only — enough to prefer a reaction trade there over a mid-air FVG, not enough to ignore session filters or news flat rules. If the handle has already been respected twice in the session, I am more interested; if it is the first touch of a new big figure in a news spike, I often stand aside and let others argue with the first print.

Rule: confluence does not override a flat-for-news decision, and it does not justify wider stops. Gold will run a round number and an FVG together just to collect stops.

I care more about reaction quality than about whether the rectangle touched 10.00 exactly.

Gold loves round numbers and it loves leaving imbalances into them. I treat that stack as a slight preference for a reaction attempt, not as permission to ignore session filters or news flat rules.

From this desk: if an FVG terminates into a handle that has already been respected twice in the session, I want a cleaner reclaim or rejection trigger and tighter time stop — crowded magnets go both ways. Mid-air FVGs without the handle still need a stronger local story or I leave them unmarked for trading purposes.

Concrete rule: confluence upgrades location quality by one notch; it never upgrades size. Size stays at the session risk card.

I also check whether the handle is fresh or already a magnet three times that morning. Third touch into FVG often belongs to someone else’s mean-reversion fantasy, not to my R budget.
