Sharing chart screenshots so others can actually help

Post by FXS London Scalper »

When posting a trade question, the answers are only as good as the screenshot. A standard that makes charts readable for others:
  • Timeframe and the broker time zone written on the image.
  • Entry, stop and target drawn as lines with the price, not just arrows.
  • One higher-timeframe screenshot with the setup area boxed.
  • Indicators either turned off or named, never just coloured lines.
  • Spread at entry in the caption if the trade was close to news.
The reader shouldn't have to guess which M1 candle you meant. Saying the time in London as well as broker time also helps, because most of us think in session times.

Privacy points: crop out account balance and the account number, and the broker name if it doesn't matter to the question. Check the title bar too, since MT5 shows the account number there.

Tools: MT5's built-in screenshot saves the chart only, which is cleaner than a full-screen capture. TradingView's snapshot gives a shareable link, though it shows that platform's data feed rather than your broker's, which can differ slightly at the open.

What else would you like to see when someone posts a chart for review?
