Trading tired: a checklist for late sessions

Post by FXS London Scalper »

Many European traders trade the New York afternoon or evening sessions after a full working day. Fatigue reduces attention and increases impulsive decisions, yet it is easy to underestimate.

A short checklist before trading late can help: Did I sleep reasonably last night? Have I eaten? Am I trading because of a setup or because I have time? Am I following the same size rules as earlier? If any answer raises doubt, reducing size or skipping the session is a sensible default.

A method to measure the effect is to tag trades by time of day and compare results. If evening trades are consistently worse, that is a signal worth acting on, regardless of how confident you feel during the session.

Some traders set a hard cut-off time, after which no new positions are opened. Others restrict evening trading to managing existing positions only.

How late do you trade, and have you compared your results by hour?
