One-click trading and EAs on the same terminal: settings to review

Post by FXS London Scalper »

One-click trading is great for manual scalping and a risk when you also run EAs on the same terminal. Settings worth reviewing:
  • The one-click panel off on charts where an EA runs, so a misclick can't add a manual trade to an EA-managed symbol.
  • Separate profiles: one for manual trading, one for EAs.
  • Default volume in the trade panel set to the minimum, so an accidental click is small.
  • Keyboard shortcuts for trading disabled unless you use them deliberately.
  • Algo trading enabled only on the terminal that needs it.
Another option is two terminals: one for EAs, one for manual trading, each with its own data folder. It uses more memory but removes a lot of risk.

EA code can protect itself too: ignore positions without its magic number, and log any unexpected position on its symbol.

A worked example of the risk: a manual one-click buy on a chart where a grid EA runs can be treated by the EA as part of its basket and managed with the grid's logic.

How do you separate manual and EA trading?
