The 10:00 London hour: second chance or noise?

Post by FXS London Scalper »

After the first London hour, there's often a second push around 10:00. Whether it's a useful second chance can be tested.

Method:
  • Mark the high and low of 08:00 to 10:00 London on EURUSD.
  • Record whether 10:00 to 11:00 breaks either side, and whether the break continues by at least a set distance or reverses.
  • Compare days with and without eurozone data around 09:00 to 10:00.
Possible explanations if there's a pattern: eurozone releases, positioning before the afternoon option expiries, and traders who arrive late.

Practical use: if breaks at 10:00 often reverse, it's a reason not to chase them. If they often continue, it's a second-chance trade for those who missed the open.

The answer probably differs by pair and season, so test your own instrument.

Keep the definitions fixed for the whole test, including what counts as a continuation, so the result isn't shaped after the fact.
