Scalpers tend to think about market risk and forget operational risk. A power cut, an internet outage, or a hardware failure can leave positions open and unmanaged.
A basic plan covers a few things. A phone with the broker's app, installed and logged in beforehand, for emergency closing. A mobile hotspot as a backup connection. A battery backup for the computer and router, enough to run for fifteen minutes or so.
Also important is keeping the broker's phone dealing line in a place that is quick to reach. Some brokers will close positions by phone, though often with a delay.
The best protection is not carrying positions during any period when intervention is impossible. Server-side stops on every trade provide another layer.
Testing the plan takes ten minutes. Disconnect the main computer and see how quickly positions can be viewed and closed from the backup.
What backup is in place for a failure during an open trade, and has it been tested?
