Mobile execution is not desktop execution

Post by Amanhasnoname »

A phone app is convenient for closing a trade in an emergency. As a main execution tool, it carries some risks that desktop users forget.

Mobile apps run over cellular or Wi-Fi, which means variable latency. They also suspend in the background, so price alerts and updates can arrive late. The interface is smaller, so misclicks on size or direction are more likely.

Execution settings may differ too. Some mobile apps default to different slippage tolerance or lack options available on the desktop version. Order types may be limited, and modifying stops can take more steps.

None of this means mobile should never be used. It means the habits should differ: smaller size, extra confirmation, and an awareness that the price on the screen might be a second or two stale.

A useful rule is treating mobile as a tool for managing existing trades, not for opening new scalps, unless the connection is clearly stable.

How often does mobile get used for entries, and has it ever produced a worse fill than the desktop would have?
