Market execution is not automatically the fair option

Post by Amanhasnoname »

Brokers love to advertise market execution as the honest choice, no requotes, no interference. That is true as far as it goes, but it quietly moves the risk to somewhere else.

With market execution, the order goes through at whatever price is available when it arrives. No protection, no second chance. Slippage that would have been a requote now simply becomes a worse fill, and the trader finds out after the fact.

On a calm EURUSD during London hours, this barely matters. On a thin cross during a fast move, the executed price can land several pips from the screen price.

Instant execution has the opposite flaw. The price is promised, but the broker can refuse it. In quiet markets that means very tight fills, in fast ones it means the trader keeps clicking.

Neither is better in general. For scalpers, the question is which failure costs less on the specific pairs and sessions being traded. A tight stop and a 2 pip target handles a rejection better than a 4 pip slip.

Which execution model has treated your scalping best, and on which pairs did that preference flip?
