Triple swap Wednesday is irrelevant to scalpers until it isn't

Intraday scalpers can safely ignore swaps most days, because positions rarely cross rollover. That's the logic, and it works right up to the point where a trade gets forgotten or deliberately held through a messy session.

Wednesday is when the broker books three days of swap to cover the weekend settlement. A position that straddles rollover that day pays or earns triple. On pairs with a large rate differential, such as USD against high-yield currencies, that can easily exceed a pip's worth of cost.

For scalping, the practical angle is the opposite. Stray trades that were meant to be short but got left open overnight quietly drain the account, and nobody notices until the statement.

A habit that helps: a daily check at the end of session for any open ticket, plus a platform alert if any position exists after a set time.

Does anyone track swap costs as a separate line in the journal, or is it all rolled into the profit figure?
