Deposit and withdrawal fees that eat into a small edge

Post by Amanhasnoname »

Moving money in and out has costs: bank wire fees, card processing charges, currency conversion margins, and payment processor fees. For a scalper with a narrow edge and regular withdrawals, they matter.

Conversion margins can be the largest hidden cost. A deposit in one currency converted into the account currency at a poor rate loses a percentage immediately. The reverse conversion on withdrawal costs again.

Compare methods. Bank transfers often have fixed fees, which are small relative to large amounts. Cards and e-wallets may charge percentages. Some brokers cover the fees up to a limit or for certain methods.

Choose an account currency that matches the funding currency to avoid conversions.

Consider frequency. Frequent small withdrawals incur repeated fixed fees. Larger, less frequent ones reduce the share.

Add these costs to the overall cost model. A strategy that earns 2 percent a month cannot afford 1 percent in transfer costs.

What total percentage of profit goes to funding and withdrawal costs over a year?
