More indicators feel like more information. In practice, many of them restate the same thing, and conflicting signals lead to hesitation. The trader waits for all indicators to agree, and the opportunity passes.
On fast timeframes, hesitation is expensive. A setup that needs three seconds of thought becomes a trade entered late, at a worse price.
Simplifying is a decision problem. Choose the few inputs that demonstrably add information, and remove the rest. Test by removing each indicator from the rule set and checking whether performance drops. If not, it was decoration.
A clear decision rule helps: if conditions A, B, and C are met, enter. If not, do nothing. No further deliberation.
Also consider the visual load. A cluttered screen increases the time needed to read the situation and raises the chance of missing a key detail.
Fewer, well-chosen inputs, with predefined responses, lead to faster and more consistent execution.
Which indicators on the screen would not be missed if removed?
Analysis paralysis and the chart with fifteen indicators
