Some challenges have a time limit to reach the profit target, while others allow unlimited time. A deadline can create pressure to trade more aggressively as it approaches.
A worked example: a trader is at 5 percent of an 8 percent target with three days left. The temptation is to increase size to reach the target, which also increases the chance of breaching the drawdown. Without a deadline, the trader could continue at normal risk.
A method to understand your own response is to simulate challenges on demo with and without a time limit and compare behaviour. If risk per trade rises near deadlines, unlimited-time challenges may suit you better even at a higher price.
Another approach is to decide in advance what you will do if the deadline approaches and the target has not been reached: accept the failure, or request an extension if the firm offers one.
The goal is to keep risk decisions independent of the calendar.
