A remote desktop connection to a VPS behaves in a way that surprises many. When the session is closed rather than logged off, the desktop may continue in a disconnected state, or in certain setups, applications may be affected by the changed session state.
Some trading terminals draw their interface only while a display is attached. In a disconnected session, rendering stops, which usually does not affect EAs, but in unusual configurations, certain scripts or chart-dependent features misbehave.
Screen resolution changes on reconnect can also cause chart layouts to shift, and some terminals pause timers or events.
A related issue is the session timeout: the VPS may log off idle sessions after a set time, closing programs. Check the local group policy for idle session limits.
Test by connecting, starting the EA, disconnecting, and then verifying from a second device or the broker's mobile app that the EA continues trading as expected.
The best approach is to confirm behavior on a demo before relying on it with live positions.
Does the EA run correctly when the remote session is disconnected?
