cTrader versus MT5: execution differences scalpers notice

Post by Amanhasnoname »

cTrader and MT5 present similar basic functions, but their architecture differs in ways that affect scalping. cTrader typically offers a depth of market view on supporting brokers, Level 2 pricing, and a more transparent execution model, with fills shown against the book.

MT5 offers a broad ecosystem of EAs, scripts, and indicators, and a well-known testing environment, but its depth display and execution depend on the broker's implementation.

Order handling varies. cTrader supports features like stop-limit orders, partial fills, and detailed slippage settings in the ticket. MT5 supports many of them too, but the user interface is less explicit about how fills occur.

For automation, cTrader uses C# in its cAlgo environment, while MT5 uses MQL5. The choice of language and tools may matter more than platform speed.

Execution quality ultimately comes from the broker, not the platform. Test the same broker on both platforms if both are offered, and compare latency and slippage.
