Pip value looks simple on EUR/USD with a dollar account: roughly ten dollars per standard lot. On crosses and with other account currencies, it changes constantly. A euro account trading GBP/JPY has a pip value that depends on both the GBP/JPY rate and the EUR/JPY rate.
For scalpers sizing by risk, that drift matters. A stop of four pips on a given lot size might risk a slightly different amount from one hour to the next. Over a long period, the risk per trade fluctuates.
Platforms calculate it automatically, but EAs that use a fixed pip value in their sizing formula will misjudge risk. The error can be a few percent on majors and larger on some crosses.
Check the code or calculator for the pip value source. Use the platform's tick value property, which updates with the current exchange rates.
Another detail: conversion happens at the closing time rate, which includes the spread of the conversion pair, a tiny hidden cost.
Is the position sizing formula using the live tick value or a hardcoded constant?
